Mr. Mom
While Tammy and her mom are living la tropical vida in Hawaii I'm at home playing Mr. Mom. The kids get up between 6-6:30am. I stumble out after them and get their breakfast in the microwave. It's usually something healthy, like a banana or some other fruit (not microwaved), together with something unhealthy (and microwaved) which is then dipped in syrup.
Tammy left gifts for the girls, one gift for each day she is gone. So every morning we open a gift and count how many days left until Mommy returns. Today was day three.
After prepping to go out, we leave the house for our morning adventure. The goal is to do something somewhat strenuous, but definitely fun, and it should be over by 11:30 or 12. Today we rode scooters at Balboa Park. The day before we went to the zoo. We usually bring a light lunch with us as well.
Once we get home from our morning excursion I try (in vain) to have Chloe take a nap. We've long since given up on a formal nap schedule, but Chloe will often conk out around 1pm for a couple hours. But not since Mommy has been gone. Nope, not once.
We tend to hang around the house relaxing until our afternoon adventure, which may either precede dinner or follow dinner. Yesterday we went to the local library before dinner. Today we went to Lake Jennings after dinner. Our destination and the current air temperature play into those decisions. This is a less strenuous outing. Chloe has been very tired without her naps so we're mainly changing the scenery and killing some time.
Bed time rituals begin around 6:45pm. Then the girls mess around in their room for awhile before finally dozing off and giving me time to write blog posts.
It's tough being Mr. Mom. There's not a lot of time to deal with life outside of the kids. But it certainly helps to have such adorable and loving girls to spend time with each day. I know I'll be thrilled to have Mommy back on Tuesday, but I'm enjoying this special time with my daughters while it lasts.
