How to Get Over Regret
Amazingly, we have solved the toddler bed problem (see previous post), and it wasn't as challenging as we thought.
Tammy had the bright idea that we should put Chloe in bed, then walk out and shut the door behind us, only to check on her in 10 minute intervals. The immediate benefit is that even if she gets out of bed and cries for awhile, at least one of us isn't stuck in her room for an hour.
The first night, Chloe cried quite a bit at the door. Thankfully she wasn't able to twist the knob enough to open it. But by the third time going into her room she was dead tired and she was able to get herself to sleep without one of us helping her.
The second night, she cried for just a minute or two before relaxing in her bed and falling asleep. Hooray!
The third night was the same as the second, although she only cried for about 10 seconds. We've had the same success at nap time as well.
Tammy and I have this theory that our girls usually take about 3 days to adjust to a new routine. Thankfully we've passed that mark and things are going fine. But I still think we'll wait until Chloe is 4 years old to potty train her. :-)
