Yes, I think it's accurate to say that the first word Chloe was able to repeat on demand and pronounce consistently (though very far from correctly) was "duck".

When my mom and Rick came out to visit a month or so ago, we went to dinner at Anthony's Fish Grotto. They have a pond with ducks in it and the girls had a great time feeding (and chasing) the ducks. That was Chloe's first exposure to ducks.

Then, over Thanksgiving, we went to Lake Arrowhead. As we walked along the waterfront Chloe saw ducks swimming and started yelling out, "Daw". She repeated this many times, very excitedly, and all the while staring or pointing at the ducks.

Ever since, we've been able to ask Chloe to say "Duck" and she will do it. It's quite amusing.

Today she can say, "Moo" and maybe "Up" and "Dada". But "Duck" is the official first word.
