The Cousins Came to Town
A week ago Tammy's brother Paul, wife Amy, and kids Josh (4) and Ethan (almost 3) came to visit and stay with us for 5 days. This was their first visit to San Diego since Tammy and I got married.
They arrived to some beautiful weather which we enjoyed by playing in our backyard and going to a local park. Capri and her cousins had a great time terrorizing the yard, the house, and even the cat (until he struck back). Josh and Ethan slept in Capri's room. Capri slept in the portable playpen in our room. Thankfully, everyone was able to sleep very well.
Uncle Paul got up extra early the next day to take in 9 holes at Torrey Pines Golf Course. As soon as he came home we all packed up and headed to Legoland. The weather was gorgeous again and the kids had a blast going on the rides and playing on all the kid-stuff.
On Friday a storm began to roll in. Uncle Paul got up early again and played 18 holes on the South Course at Torrey Pines before the rain started. Aunt Amy and the boys visited her longtime friend Jodi and husband John in downtown San Diego. In the evening we all went out to dinner with Jodi and John here in La Mesa at Por Favor. They don't sell Mexican food like that in Wisconsin!
The rainy day did take its toll, though. The cooped up kids crossed paths with the cooped up cat one too many times. Diego scratched Ethan across his face, drawing a slight amount of blood and shocking Tammy and I. Diego has been quite harrassed by Capri at times and he has always just run away. But now for the rest of the visit we all had to be extra aware of where Diego was sitting.
On Saturday we went to Balboa Park and watched a magic show, walked around, and played at the big play structure. We came home in the evening and had some delectable grilled steaks.
Sunday was Easter and we were able to get up and out of the house for service at 8:30am. Tammy dropped everyone off at the airport right after church while Capri and I stayed at church during the 2nd service. Unfortunately, the flight was delayed a couple of hours by bad weather in Chicago, but eventually they made it home safely.
Capri warmed up to her cousins more and more each day they were here. She declared Josh to be "funny Josh" and her and Ethan could play and share together all day long. It was great having the family out to visit. We have some pictures in our photo gallery for you to see as well.
