Pregnancy Update
It turns out that I'm not as far along in my pregnancy as I first thought. But that's okay, I'm just glad to still be pregnant! We had our first Dr. appointment and they did a sonogram to see the baby. But we didn't see a baby at all! The Dr. showed us the gestational sac where the baby is supposed to be, but it was empty. This meant one of 2 things. Either I'm not as far along in my pregnancy as we thought (9 weeks) OR I'm having a miscarriage. That was tough news to hear but we tried to remain hopeful that it was the first option.
The next step was to do blood tests to measure my hormone levels. I took a blood test that same day and another one two days later. If the results showed my hormone levels dropping, it could be a sign that I'm having a miscarriage. If they showed my hormone levels rising, or better yet, doubling, it would be a sure sign that I'm NOT having a miscarriage.
That was a LONG 3 days to wait (to find the results of the blood tests). During that time we prayed constantly for our little unborn baby and more importantly we prayed for God's will. God gave us peace and comfort during this time and He also encouraged us. We had our church, family and friends praying for us as well.
Thursday morning while I was at women's Bible study I received the phone call from my Doctor. She said my numbers had doubled!!! That's exactly what they wanted to see. This meant I was not having a miscarriage. I'm just not as far along in my pregnancy and the baby was too small to see at the time of the first sonogram.
I started to feel the nausea coming on this past week, but nothing really bad yet. Mostly, I'm very tired. We go in for our next sonogram on Feb. 28th and this time we should be able to see the baby...We'll keep you posted!
