Shake Rattle & Roll
Capri slept right through her first earthquake this morning...but we sure didn't. We awoke to a loud noise and shaking around 4am this morning. And then we even felt and mostly heard the small aftershock a couple minutes later. The earthquake was only a 3.9 but it felt bigger to us because it was centered not too far from our home (in Jamul). I think Nate was able to go right back to sleep, but I couldn't.
The earthquake brought feelings of helplessness for me. I realized that I view them differently now that I have a baby. I used to think they were kinda "cool". Now they are scary. Everything happens so fast that by the time you realize what happened it's too late to do anything and with our precious little daughter asleep and so completely helpless in the other room it brought about feelings I have never experienced before. And my next thought was God reminding me that nothing happens that is out of His control and I can rest knowing He is watching over us and Capri because He loves her even more than we do! God is good and faithful to take care of us.
On another note, Capri and I met Nate at the Chula Vista Nature Center where he took his class for a field trip today. Capri loved watching all the kids and they loved her too. All in all it was a great day!
