The Great Northwest
We got home Saturday night from a lovely trip to Oregon visiting my grandmother. She lives right outside Portland in Lake Oswego. More specifically, she lives on the campus of Marylhurst University. Capri had a wonderful time meeting her great-grandmother and it really was worth the pain.
What pain?
Well, thanks to Alaska Airlines getting to Oregon and back was excruciating. Going to Portland our direct flight was delayed 4 hours so they offered to put us on a flight to Seattle and then down to Portland. Unfortunately, this new flight was delayed at the gate, then when we got on the runway a door light came on in the cockpit so they had to return to the gate for about 30-40 minutes to fix it.
Because of that delay we missed our connection in Seattle and didn't get into our hotel in Portland until after 9pm. That made for almost a 10 hour travel day.
Coming home was no better. Our 4:50pm flight out of Portland was delayed 30 minutes, then we all loaded on the plane, only to be told there was a mechanical problem. We sat there for 30 minutes before they said it was worse than they thought. Soon after that they scrapped the flight, gave us each $5 snack coupons, and told us to wait until 8:30pm for a new airplane. We didn't get home until midnight.
Through it all Capri was a trooper. She's a great baby to travel with.
Next in our plans is a road trip to Peoria/Phoenix and Las Vegas. That should be fun, and no airplanes are involved.
