Proposal
Yesterday was a nice day. Nate and I took it easy during the day and just did a little shopping at Target. Then at night we had plans. A friend of ours (Chris) had asked Nate to play guitar as background music while he had dinner on the beach with his girlfriend. This was a surprise birthday dinner as far as she knew...but we all knew that Chris was going to propose to her too!
The location was the beach in Del Mar. It was a beautiful night. We (I went to video tape the event) got to the beach around 7pm. There we saw the other accomplices to this surprise dinner. Our friend Jesse was in a tuxedo and was going to be their private host and waiter. Kirk was also there as their private chef. Nate was there to serenade them, I was there to watch :) Pastor Jeff was there to take photos. They had a table set up right on the beach and it was roped off so that nobody would disturb them (the beach was very crowded). The table had a white linen table cloth, fancy place settings, fresh flower centerpieces, and chilled sparkling water and sparkling cider...they thought of it all! To one side of the table was the ocean with the sun setting and dolphins jumping around, to the other side was a small "cliff" around 6-7 feet tall. On top of the cliff is where Kirk was cooking the food, I was hanging out, Jeff was disguised and taking pictures. Nate sat about 4 feet outside their table and played guitar.
When Chris walked his girlfriend out to the table she was very surprised...but thought it was all for her birthday. She didn't even see Jeff taking photos the whole time. Half way through dinner is when Chris gave her a card and then got on his knee to propose! She said yes and a bunch of people that had gathered to watch them began to clap! It was so cool and such a special night. Nate and I are very glad and felt blessed to be able to participate and help Chris out. Congratulations to Chris and Karen!
Today I made it to church and them came home and took a LONG nap. The weather has been much nicer lately which helps me considerably. We plan to lay low for the night.
